Is this increase due to direct x 8.1? I ran the bench first with DX 9. Then I had to reformat, then I ran it again with DX 8.1 and got 1.5K increase in score. Plus the overclock was 200Mhz lower. Here are the scores I'm talking about.

I bet it has something to do with the reformat, and not the dx9. But that is me just taking a stab at it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add. I used a SB Live card in the second bench but, I'm not sure that would have any effect on the score since 3dmark doesn't produce sound.

Hmm.. I bet it was the format.. At one point, my moms comp was slower then heck, but I cleaned out the regestry and it could almost play UT, as apposed to my 1-2 fps..... Reformatting helps speed it up quite a bit.. Too bad ya loose your windows info/pref's when you do.. :P Heck, even at a consistant speed, with my Ti4200, I can get 10050, or I may get 8k who knows.. I have run it several times, and sometimes its quite a bit lower...

I'll bet you hadn't installed the chipset (AGP) drivers before the format. If you look at the first 3dmark score, it says the current AGP rate is not available. That means that the card is running in PCI mode. If you look in the second score, it actually shows up as 4x.

Ahh I got it now. Before I didn't have fast writes and sideband addressing enabled. (wasn't in the bios) I just checked system info and now it says both of them are enabled.

Eh... I still think you didn't have your AGP drivers installed. Fast writes and sidebanding would produce 1% difference at best. There's no way the two of those could make up a 1500-point difference. If you look at the 3dmark scores, though, you can tell AGP wasn't enabled in the first run.

how do you get out of PCI mode?! my GF2mx400 keeps showing PCI mode in the drivers.

Is it a PCI card? If not, then install your chipset drivers. In your case I think they would be the Via 4-in-1s.

Well from looking at the 2 scores I noticed that the 1st score didn't state your AGP rate. The 2nd score stated that it was using 4x so that might be why you have such a difference.
