I just received my brand new 1.33GHz cpu.....plugged into my new system ( Iwill KA-266 w/ Crucial PC-2100 ) and found that it WOULD NOT POST! Fearing the worst, I swapped the cpu out with another Tbird I had in my office at work ( 1 GHz....not mine though :( )....it posted without a problem...So, I am getting an RMA and will be trying out another one...
Just in case....here's the info from the cpu:

A1333AMS3C
AXIA 0111MPMW
K00S4691442
1999 AMD

Murphey's Law.......I hate it.....

Definitely have to say that sucks.... but like you said, it's Murphy's Law. Don't feel too bad getting a hold of AMD for RMA replacement. A lot of people RMA chips under.... ahem.... shady..... circumstances. Unless we hear more about CPU's from that same week arriving DOA, I would not worry too much about its code/week/origin.

I'd say that based upon their 14 day return poilcy, and if you intend to get a replacement CPU of the same value, that you should only be out the shipping cost. If they jerk you around, mention resellerratings.com, the better business bureau, their state attorneys general office, etc.

Good luck. They'll blame it on you and say you killed it or damaged it once you return it to them. They suck, trust me I just ordered from them a week and a half ago and then after I discovered how screwed up of a company they were, I cancelled. You'll probably get an email from Grace, and it will take you a week to get an RMA. Go to resellerratings.com and check them out, you won't find good news.

If it's a shady place you are dealing with, better play it safe. Take pictures of the CPU to prove there was no physical damage to it (clean off all the grease first so it looks nice). Make sure you remember to erase your pencilled in L1s, if you got that far. BTW, if you did a bad pencil job that can prevent the chip from working, so if you did pencil in your L1s already, you might want to try running it without the bridges connected.

Finally, if the place gives you any trouble, don't hesistate to go to your credit card company to get things worked out.
