HELP
You have a Athlon Thunderbird rated (conservatively) at 10x100=1000 Mhz=1.0Ghz. It was manufactured in the 7th week of 2001 and it is not one of the famous AXIA, but it should be able to do 1200-1300 I'd bet.

hoot what do i need to do bud
very cool in my case have several fans
mb temp is 32c
cpu temp is 51c have tryed just bumping it up and it will crash at 1100
what the hell am i doing wrong
i am an x intel gone amd so i need help
For any serious gains, I would say you should shoot for getting that temp down to 45C or less. Are you bumping the multiplier or the FSB? Can you tell me the Heatsink make and model? Ditto on the fan on it. I'm guessing that with good ventilation that you claim to have, you must be in a warm room to have a mobo temp of 32C. What voltage are you running the core at? Lots of questions in able to give you an honest opinion.

Other pertinent questions;
What MOBO are you running?
What make, type and cas latency is your memory?
Is the chip unlocked? (sounds like it)
What and how many peripherials are plugged into MOBO?
(these sometimes cause conflicts when overclocking.)
Did you lap the heat sink on the chip?
Did you use a good thermal grease on the heatsink?
These answers will help others w/ your questions.

ok i'm at 1100 now :)
cpu temp is still at 51c
it is the stock heat sink and fan that came with the chip
i scrapped of the termal paste and went to radio shack and got some cpu heat sink compound put that on the chip wow that helped 8degree's !!
while i was there i bought a gama blower e-poxied it to the bottom of the case and pointed it up-ward. towards the chip. installed a fan in the back of the case and am blowing air out. cool air is coming out now at 1100 :)
it's and asus a7v133 with the 266 fsb
retail 1000 amd
300watt power supply one of the ones' on amd's web site
creative geforce 2 mx not overclocked at 4x agp
dxr3 card for DVD
adaptec 2940 ultra for scsi burner
kingston 10/100 ethernet
ensonic audio pci (i now i need a new one)
3 cdroms
2 hard drives (one's a western dig and the other is a ibm)
let me know if you need any more info
and thnsk for you help :)

got to 1100 but no luck at 1150 didn't even get into windows psoted though
tryed to change the clock multipler and had to shut the PC off couldn't even get to the bois ouch.
115X10 no luck
What voltage are you running the core at? You say you are at 1100. Is that 11x100? While you had that HSF off you could have gained a few more degrees by lapping the baseplate, assuming the finish already on it is not a mirror. As for the voltage, you don't want to increase it to allow a higher overclock until you get the temp down, as it will only go up even further.

it's 110x10
damn am i clocking the wrong thing
No, you are doing fine with 10x110. That's actually a little bit better for total realized preformance than 11x100. Try dropping to 9x133 and see what happens. Do you have PC133 or PC100 Ram?

oh i forgot to tell you i tried to change the clock multiplyer to like 11, 12. or something else and it always stayed at 1000ghz so does this mean that the chip is clock locked. ???? so the only thing i can change is the cpu freq to 100, 101, 102 and so forth what gives with that ???
With PC100 Ram, you are working with a bit of a handicap, but it is a workable scheme. For the moment, you need to address the inability to change the multiplier. That is typically why people do the "L1 Bridge Mod" on their CPU. "How to" articles abound. Once you unlock the L1 bridges, you will be able to move up or down on multiplier. Make that todays task. You can use a pencil or some form of conductive paint to accomplish this. If you have an automotive parts store nearby, consider picking up a Rear Window Defogger repair kit. Many people swear by that method. Many people either swear by or swear at using the pencil method. Read the "How to" articles.
