voltage

I just recently bought my first amd cpu (2400+) and a mobo which I can adjust voltage with. I have never messed with votages before so I was wondering what you guys would consider to be "safe" right now its running at 1.75v.

safe is 1.8v
anything higher wouldnt be too good for the cpu.

If you're not overclocking then the voltage should be set to default. If you are then it really depends on your cooling, going over 1.9 even with very good air cooling is not recommended, if you have poor cooling then even 1.8 could be too much
