What CPU to get

I plan on getting a new computer in about 2 months. I was wondering aobut a chip called the Palamino. Does anyone know when it is supposed to come out? wether it will run on current Mother Boards? If it will use PC2600 ram?? If it is going to come out before october, I will get a cheeper system now, and spend the monye then, all comments would be appriciated:)

Desktop Palomino(the next iteration of the Athlon) is due out next quarter @1.5Ghz initially this taken directly from AMD's earnings conference call of 4/18/2001.

When precisely, I do not know. It is difficult to read the tea leaves regarding AMD's product launch, and precisely what enhancements the Palomino core will have are still the topic of some debate.
