Hi mates!
Well I had this game for a while now and ROC as well but newer really had any succes playing it online... I completed SP without a breeze and can take care of one CPU ( normal ) no probs there either.
But agains human players I don't stand a chance :/
Ok, they have been playing for longer than I had so that is not a biggie. I would like to play as NE only.

My problem is lack of good Build order against different races, to know what hero to use, I need counters to enemy army and I need some basic strategies ( like get a dual hero DH and KotG against Humans, if they go footies only get some hunts and dryads ) stuff like that...

I'm pretty good at SC:BW but these two aren't similar in any way =( The other day I played against a guy who knew I was a newb... I had DH lvl. 7 and KotG lvl.5 2 exp and almost full army all the way but the guy just kept raping my army with his inferior one... I scouted and all but he had just his main so I thought that he would be an easy match... At the end he had plenty Ancient protectors and DH lvl 8. with mass Mountain Giants and few other stuff. i lost my entire army and KotG and just left =( I didn't have much money, we had many fights and skirmishes, but he always had an upper edge ( he was toying with me )

So i watched over 400 replays to learn something... But no =( my problem is that I didn't find so much NE replays even less NE players that won. And all of them differed from each other in quality so I wouldn't dare to take most of them as my main strategy. Other thing is I know I could just play and try to find out strategies of my own but I recon it would kill my wish to play and I wouldn't want to do that. So please. If any friendly soul have some time to write down a bit and help me out on my quest to enjoy WC3 ( other that watching replays ) please do so !

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

go to wcgalaxy.com and check out other peoples strats and build orders. You need to pratice alot, dont play against computers as they're nothing like humans and they're really hard for someone that isnt very good. I play on LAN a few games a day with 3 ppl that are constantly at my house. Also play as random when you practice because then you get a feel for each race then you'll know how they build and what they're strength/weeknesses are. Know about armor differences and and attack differances like how piercing dmg works against heavy armor. Il think of other stuff later but this is it for right now

oh for heroes i like to get the warden (her ultimate is the most helpful thing in a big battle) and either the Priestess (!STARFALL!)
or the naga sea witch (forked lightning and tornado are wonderful and tornado can be used on buildings). And always remember if your not fighting your enemy you should be creeping at all times. Another thing to add, learn to micromanage be able to cast spells throughout the whole "final" battle between you and your opponent. If you play FFA the game is all about TIMING, way for you enemies to kill each other than take out the last guy who has no army. Just sit in your base and make ancient protectors, if an enemy knows you have them it greatly discourages them from attacking you bye bye for now

play UMS maps, you'll learn things about heroes and spells that you wont learn when you playing melee. Remember the good old days of v-tec in SC. I used to play that nonstop and now i kick arse at it. Anyway from playing SC you learn differant things like how dragoons suck against zlings and how marines and ghosts suck against goons. Back to W3 play hero arenas you'll learn how to use each spell the most effectively and you'll know how other heroes work so you can counter them along with other spells. W3 is all about your heroes, they decide who wins and who loses

Thanks mate for your kind replies !!!
So what UMS maps would you recommend for playing just to learn all the counters and stuff ?

Also I play 1v1 only. So Heroes are the key you say...
Well my problem is that I can't see pattern... Some have 1 hero others use 2-3 and than again I can't see any clear strategy in any of those 400+ replays I watched. Some exp early others don't and such stuff :(

So there is much I need to know =(

any of the hero arenas, or footman wars. For the heroes, quality is better than quantity as in 1 lvl 10 hero can take on 3 lvl 3 heroes. I personally like to use 2, but try to get however many you use up to lvl 6 asap. I also like to have 1 primary/super hero who gets all the good items and tomes and have a second backup hero with good spells. Your strat cant stay the same everytime you play because it will get VERY boring VERY fast if you do the same thing every game. You have to scout your opponent and adjust to whatever they're getting and counter them. What alot of newbs do is sit in they're base and wait till both they and they're opponent have maxed out on food, try to make random attacks at your opponent so he has to focus his time on both you and building up his base. Check all gold mines like every 5 minutes for expansions, gold is key for long games. Be prepared for rushes as alot of ppl like to win that way. Unless you know you are going to win a battle and be able to kill your opponents base right away go on the defensive and sit in your base by your moon wells, dont engage in the middle unless your certain you can win. DONT EVER GIVE UP even if they defeated your army if you have money like 2-3k gold and lumber, take all your wisps and go to a remote gold mine and make one tree of life, one altar of elders, and the rest ancient protectors. You still have a chance to win.

Well I can tell you one thing right away about your match that you played the other day. You said that he had lots of mtn. giants and ancient protectors. That alone is one reason that he kept waxing your ass. If you are attacking him and he has ancient protectors throwing boulders at you and a good defensive posture then you are going to have a helluva time getting to him, and his heroes will be leveling like a mutha off of you. I am not the best guy to take advice from, as I mostly play against comps with my buddies and TD maps. But we do play a game here and there matched up against others and usually take a pretty sound beating, but we are getting better. One thing that I am learning very quickly is to get a second mine going asap. Without the added cashflow you will never be able to keep up with the comp or another human player for very long at all.

I dont think I've played a game for 6 months that had a lvl 6 hero, let alone 2. U gotta harass early and wrap things up. Ur KotG is good and also get the warden. She is a hero killer and also has a great ultimate.

Just mass units eaely to hold off the others or to harass. If u harass u are free to gtech to what u want. A good thing to tech to is tose MG;'s and mass archers. Just use the MJ's taunt and alot of people cant micro out of it.

If he was embeded in with protectors and MJ's I'm sure u also had balista's and wisps to repair them with u?

The important thing is not to worry about MJ's. They attack slow and do no real damage. Kill the supporting units and heros then them.

Just be offensive not defensive.

K thanks mates !!! This helps really !!!! But still I must have counters. Today I got pwned from rifleman :(
I had more units, that I'm sure of. He had MK as a hero, just passed by my hunts and come in between archers... He did one clap and I tried everything to stop him. Mana burned him 2 times with lvl 1 MB and focused fire but he wouldn't die =( He had few footies and some rifle man. I had 3 hunts and many archers ( pumping them out from 2 AoW ).
I got my a$$ handed to me in a matter of seconds. His soldiers wasn't even upgraded. Mine were 1 att and 1 armor. My hero lvl 3. his lvl 4

So I really must know counters!!! Those stuff like lings > goons. So if anyone can at least write down a few ???

Thank you for your time!!!

if your nightelf and someone masses crap units (rifleman, archers) get chims fast, they completely oblierate crap units and they easily take out buildings. But then theres a chance the guy will see them before you kill then he will get air attackers since you cant attack them, in that case you should get hippogryphs w/o archers on them like 18 hippos and 12 chims. And about what verbatim said do be offensive and the beginning and harass but if you know you cant win go defensive, get him to attack you then after you win wipe him out.
