Fish mod for the reservoir

I didnt know to put this in water cooling or in the alternative modding. i was wondering if anyone ever thought of putting fish in their reservoir for decorative purposes. put some small filteration in the to clean up the poop and extra fish food and stuf :P

You know what would be kinda cool....

Make a rez with a fish tank inside of it. Kind of a tank within a tank; the outside one would be part of the sealed watercooled system, the tank "inside" would be open on the top and you could put a goldfish or beta in there. You would need to be pretty good with either glass or plexi cutting, but if both water levels were the same first glance would look like you have a fish in your W/C setup!

Real fish? That's just wrong. I think it would be cool to have a fake one in there... people are always telling me that at local lan parties. So far I haven't figured anything out though.

They would die!! The water in your system isn't healthy to drink or live in. As for fake fish they do make them, havent you guys seen the fake plastic fish that sim around in glass containers!?! you could use some of those. Real fish though would not survive, the temps would be constantly changing, and theres antifreeze in the water!

ive got a fish tank res!!!..

thats at -30+ constalty and has 50% toxic antifreeze...

butttt...

and it would be cool + effective.

gauze + foam filters would stop fish rubbish getting in your pump etc.. (or just get a submersiable pump that already has filters (hydor l30 etc) check your local aquarium for larger better filters.

one problem would be.. is you WOULD get algei all over the place and you would aslo need to get a secondary fish pump to get air into the water,

your fish would have to be pretty dammed tough to survive the water temp changes when the systems on and off. and the temp your res would variy to and from would come into acount.

apart from all of that.. it would work great. but you would need to get some kind of snails or fish that would get rid of the contaminates like algie that were put in the water..

it would work.. best to ask in your local aquarium though not here.. were over clockers.. extremeists .. living on the edge etc. we don't keep fish!.. we'd keep .. er penguins and .. large evil cats .. and dogs etc.. :D

as posted above, the fish cant survive in anti-freeze and constant temp changes.

then don't use antifreeze..... and get the temp range for the fish tank .. and see if any fish can surive that. :P

i dont use anti-freeze, uh... someone enlighten me to what it does.

I am an aquarist and i tell you this, besides the fish dieng before the nitrate cycle would happen is one thing, but the corrosive properties of aquarium water would be perhibitive of any water animal living inside our closed systems. Besides oxygenating the water would require you to inject air into your system...thats counter productive.

If you're supercooling your PC, antifreeze prevents your lines from freezing. Not too many people need it though.

Lian-Li made a case side panel that had a false aquarium in it with fake fish that was actually pretty decent looking.

But as far as trying to keep fish alive in those temperature changes/living conditions, it's just not feasible.
