Usually this would be easy, but considering the prices now I'm not so sure. I just bought a Lexmark X1150 Print Trio Printer. I need a USB cable to connect it to my computer. I have USB 2.0 SLots only.
What kind of usb cable should I buy? I have seen a few cables at best buy but they are SO EXPENSIVE. I mean cmon, $30 for a stupid cable?!?!?
wasnt the USB cable in the package :???
if not, is it retail? :p
id say get some USB2.0 wires :)

Thats the stupid thing... I bought it from Dell. It came in a brown cardboard box with the printer, 2 ink cartridges, the power cable, installation manual, and a quick installation sheet. No usb cable. I thought it would come with a usb cable. Checking the Lexmark website, it doesn't come with a usb cable.
BUT, the usb cables are sooo expensive. I found that newegg sells them cheaper... but $5 shipping aaaaagh

I saw some usb 2 cables at wal-mart for 10 bucks or so I think they were 3 foot cables though so that might not work for you

Check ebay. I got a 10' USB extension cable for $.99!! After shipping it was $4. Can't beat that unless you find one or get one for free.
You can also try Sam's club. They have USB cables for cheap.

Is there a difference between a USB2 and a USB cable? From what I've seen I think not. I just bought 5 10' USB2 cables from a place on line last night. I'm killing myself 'cause I can't think of the name of the place. (I'll check when I get home and post it) They were $1.50 ea for 10' white in color. They have a minimum order of $10. I also got an ATX MB connector extender for a total of under $18. Shipping was like $6.40. In all, the ebay thing may be better.
edit: Don't forget that you need the A to B style for a printer.
Unfortunately alot of makers are doing that now. HP comes to mind, they don't include one in their $300 4 in 1 doohickey either.
You could just pick up one of those compact USB hubs and toss it out and keep the cable. That'll save you 5-10 bucks right there.
I get mine when the computer show comes to town, for about $5.
I'd like to meet the dweeb who named it "Best Buy"....liar.

Thanks for the help guys, but I went with trusty old newegg. Got me a $10 USB cable w/ free shipping whereas at best buy it would have costed me $30.
I did a quick and unreliable search on yahoo for different USB cable speeds. I read that it did make a difference, but then again it was an unreliable yahoo search. O well, I got my $10 usb 2 cable from newegg :D
