friend got blaster...comp is really messed

Well, he removed all the infected files, and the virus is gone, but now, everything pertaining to games crashes. says files are corrupted, etc. any ideas what can be wrong? he has the nforce 2 asus deluxe board....and winxp pro

have him try to reinstall his games. Of course, try the easy ones first....if say CS is crashing, try reinstalling that first. However, if Morrowind is crashing, and he's waaaaaay far into the game, he might want to wait to see if reinstalling will fix it....which is what I mean by easy games.

The next step I guess would be a repair install of windows......I don't think it will delete files, but don't quote me on that. I don't know if you can reinstall DX or not....oh yea, try DXDiag, see if that shows any faulty DX files or vid drivers. I think you can repair them from there, but I'm not sure....

lol, i didnt even think of reinstalling games. and up until a few days ago, i didnt know dxdiag even existed (tweakxp.com)
