View Full Version : XP Taskbar
Hey guys, I'm running XP Pro and I'm wondering if there was I way I can get my 2-tired taskbar the way it was in the previous Windows versions...basically, it was the quick start taskbar (I had all my icons there, had my desktop clean) on top and window taskbar buttons on the bottom...in XP they will only go side-by-side...is there any way to get them to go the other way?

Right click on the taskbar, select 'properties', select the Start Menu' tab, select the 'classic start menu' and click OK.
You can also drag your desktop icns onto the taskbar and select 'move'. Use TweakUI to convert your desktop icons like my computer, recycle bin, etc into files so they can also be moved to the quick launch taskbar.
I hope this was what you were looking for.
This is somewhat what I'm looking for. I want to keep the look, but have the same 2-tiered format as in the previous versions of Windows...will styleXP keep the taskbar looking the same, even in classic mode?
Oh and getting my buttons on the quick start bar isn't a problem I just drag the shortcuts from the desktop and drop them on the quick start bar. Let me find an example of what my older ones looked like so I can show you how I want it to look, except with the XP visual themes:

Mine won't do it in either standard XP or classic. I think you'll need a way to custimize it with a hack or 3rd party app.
damn. :( Thanks for your help. :)
