what are the pros / cons for both?

overclocking is a must (rather, either would be overclocked)

the price difference b/t the two is that the pro is $18 more

if you have an oppinion, please post it :)

Pro. No doubt. The cons of the 256mb card are 1) 4ns TSOP style RAM - this will limit your overclock. You may make it to 250 on the RAM. The Pro comes at 300 stock. 2) The core is clocked at 325. Many people are making it to 450, but you gotta have a fan blowing on that puny passive cooler. The Pro comes with an active cooling system.

You wouldn't see any benefit from going with the 256mb card.

The only way that extra 128mb of memory is going to help you out is when you are playing doom 3 at 5 FPS. Uneeded I say.

It may make a very small difference, but again, the clockspeeds for the Pro should make up that difference easily.

the easiest way to understand the differance between 128 and 256 is that

256mb = more memory
128mb = faster

but what does the more memory do for me? would the memory or the speed give me better results for say Medal of Honor, Star Wars Galaxies, and UT2K3?

Honestly, 256 mb = useless.

At least at the current time. That's a whole marketing thing there. Go with the Pro for sure!

don't know if you read any of the other tech sites, but some of them have done the tests and 256MB of ram doesn't = increased performance - so minimal that the price isn't worth it.......

there is no game out today that needs 256mb or ram, and considering the memory speed of the 128mb cards are faster than the 256mb you would be stupid to buy a 256 card...
remember,,, faster memory is better than alot of slow memory when it comes to gaming,,

if your referring to the one's on newegg right now, the 256 card is junk compared to something else you could buy....
