I'm new at this overclocking stuff and just tried to overclock my Thunderbird Slot A 750 MHz CPU with a TD2 golden fingers device. I also bought a bigger fan to help with cooling. The best I can do is 800 MHz at 1.8V. That hardly seems worth the effort. I don't want to up the voltage any higher cause AMD lists 1.8 as the highest allowed for that CPU. Nominal core is 1.7V. It's a stock Compaq Presario and I can't monitor the temps, so I need to be careful. Any ideas? (Other than buying a new computer?) Thanks.

have you tried adjusting the external cache divisor, i never had a slot a but i remember reading that there were different cache speeds that ran async from the core, and as the speed got higher, the cache had to use a lower divisor because it couldnt keep up.

and also remember, 50 mhz was alot more of an overclock to a 750mhz chip than it is to a 3+ ghz chip, we have all been spoiled this last year with all of these super clockin chips
