I have an 8500 64mb in my 2nd rig. It seems to run great, does 3dmark 01 and 03 for hours. And yet, 2min in a game it the screen goes black. Any game. Also, it did that in my main rig when I put it in. Therefor not a system related problem. No artifacting, the screen just goes black. I hear the game going on in the background. Odly, with a small underclock from 275/275 to 250/250 it is 100% stable. Realy odly, it only does it in games, not 3dmark/vulpine mark/codecreatures, ect. Also, no artifacting. I bought it off a guy on the forums who said he had these problems until he upgraded his psu, but it cant be that I have 2 bad psu's that are perfectly stable with other cards, can it? Any ideas?

Thats a goofy one......
A card that'll do 3d mark for hours, and games for seconds.......LOL.
BTW, did you try any of the directx tests to see if its a software problem, or check your display settings? (sometimes they go default when you install a new card)
If all this checks good, id check your AGP slot timing, since if you are clocking, the speed may be off enough to throw it a curveball when games start up (mine will throttle back if i leave it on auto and it senses some corruption of the thoroughput. By default i set it to 75 Mhz)
If all else fails, try to get the bios modded, or check the strings in the code for anything funky. Or just get another bios somewhere, and throw it in.......

I once had a Radeon 7000 that will work fine for AutoCAD, but crashes in 5 minutes if I run Fear Factor.
Installing a Britney HSF on the CPU(800MHz P3) fixed the problem because the GPU heatsink is close to the CPU HSF, and the Britney HSF has a very powerful fan(80mm Sunon).

Its perfectly cool, already got a new HSF on it, but I will look into a new bios. BTW, can I flash it with a R9100 bios? Because fullstream is just sweet. Also, my agp slots are both 66mhz, no throttling, and I tweaked all my display settings several times. What I dont understand is why it works fine underclocked.

Its quite possible I could be wrong, but this sounds very much like a problem a Geforce3 had that was given to me. It would work fine for hours but sometimes it would just black screen. It was caused by a few bad caps on the card, which are going to be replaced soon. Just a thought for ya.
