Check this out...my rig has been running super stable for the last two weeks. Last night I install Canon digicam drivers, download some pics from my cam and go to sleep. This evening I power up my pc and when Windows loads the screen is all messed up with hatch marks all over. WOAH!!! So I drop the clocks on the vid card thinking it has something to do with ocing the card and still nothing. I reset all CPU parameters back to default and still nothing. Then I uninstall the Omega drivers and reboot. Presto all of a sudden the display is back to normal. So I figure the latest Omega drivers have a bug in them. I install the Catalyst 3.6 drivers and restart. SAME THING!!! What the hell is wrong here? Do you guys think I fried something on the card? Now when I install ATI or Omega drivers Windows just crashes starting up and when I boot into safe mode I get a message telling me that the drivers caused an error. Could there be a conflict somewhere? I HATE XP WITH A PASSION. I just did a fresh format last week.

Any help is mucho appreciated as these windows default drivers are SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Thanks

I seen your first mistake in the first sentence.......you bought a Canon?!?!
I won't use anything canon makes on any of my systems. its really not the item you installed, but the driver guys are like children with new toys.....they like to fool around, in hopes that will keep their job fulfilling (and possibly permanent).
try fully removing any drivers and registry keys that refer to canon, even ones in use and you know to work, then give the ati drivers another go. if that doesn't work then, im stuck...

if worst for worse comes, a reinstall will be needed :(

I would (to a point) side with Pox Freak and say that you're problem is most likely the canon drivers, although not because I have any perticular problem with canon.

It just seems to me that if things are running flawlessly, and then you install drivers for a new device and everything stops working, the problem is likely in the thing most recently changed. IE: your new digicam drivers.

Try removing the digicam drivers, and your problem should go away. Probably a conflict with your perticula card. Call Canon tech support to see if they have a list of known conflicts. It's possible that they know about the problem, from another user and that a fix is available.

While Canon design and mechanical quality and outstanding , their software leaves much to be desired.

Buy Canon, but use generic software.
