Hello
I just put together my new system and i am having a problem booting. I turn it on and it turns on just fine but the montor goes into a sleep mode. Like the monitor doesnt work with it or something. Its not the monitor because i am using this one now and it works fine it just wont work with my new system i just build.
This is what i put into my new system
1.33ghz Thunderbird
Abit Motherboard KT7A Raid
Ram 256 PC133
Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm
GeForce2 GTS 64meg
SoundBlaster Live Value
Like i was saying i try to boot it and i cannot see anything because the montior goes to sleep mode. Whats going on.
Thanks for any advice

It is very possible that you don't have a tachometer output fan in the fan #1 jack. If that is the case, the motherboard is trying to prevent you from frying your CPU. It thinks you are running without an HSF. If that does not help, reset the cmos by cycling the battery backup flea clip, per the manual. This is done with the power turned off.

Yeah. like hoot said. Do you have a fan connected to header 1 on your mobo? Also make sure that the fan has the right RPM ......
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply
I will give it a try and post back.
I connected the CPU fan into a 3 pin slot i dont know if it was the 1st one though. The motherboard didnt specify a perticular slot where the CPUs fan should plug into? Is there a perticular slot the cpu fan needs to go into?
About the fan being the right RPM, it should be because the fan is pretty big and it came with the CPU.
What do u mean the cycleing the battery (spinning it around?) per the manual?
Thanks again
And if all this doesnt work then what else could i do?

Hello
I checked it out i had the CPU fan and heatsink put into the Fan #1. Does a AMD tbird 1.33 work with the Abit kt7a raid??
Yes a T-Bird 1333/266 works on a KT7A-Raid. Try re seating your video card.
KT7A-Raid
T-Bird 1333/266 @1612
Gforce 2 MX
Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer 5.1
384 cas2 ram

Hello
Well i still cannot get the computer to boot it just hangs with the monitor off. I have tryed to reseat the Graphics card and still doesnt do anything. I tryed to put another graphics card in Voodoo 3 PCI and that also didnt work computer hangs with that as well the monitor still doesnt turn on. I tested the New graphics card i bought Gforce 2 and put it into my other computer and the graphics card had no problem turned it on and worked fine. It just wont work in my new computer that i am trying to build.
Is it possible that the Mobo is broken?
Is it possible that my CPU is broken?
Thanks

I had the same problem and all i had to do was switch all of the dip switches to default and then put them back where they were supose to go and next time it booted fine
Another stunning example of the recent fall in quality of Abit boards. I will no longer recommend them to people until I see they are performing more consistently.
