Hey guys. Do you guys know if I can run Micron RAM cas3 @ cas2 ? Also I was checking in the Bios in my Abit KT7A-RAID and I can't change the host clock to HCLK + PCICLK? I only get the host clock option??
Thanks for any info

Cheers.

Thanks.

Hey Kat, thanks for the reply man. Is it ok to have the Dram clock set to host CLK then? or should I change the fsb and change setting to HCLK + PCICLK? What's the best setting?

Cheers

Thanks.

It sure is ok to have DRAM clock set HOST CLK. You actually can't OC FSB much, if you don't. Best setting depends on your chip, ram, etc...

Try that CAS2, see if it's stable. CAS2 is always better than CAS3, when there isn't much difference in FSB. If I had to choose between CAS2/FSB142 or CAS3/FSB155, I'd go for the CAS2 setting most likely... It's supposed to be 17% faster, BTW.

I run my Micron Infineon (sp?) @ CAS2. I just had to set it in the BIOS on my A7V133.

CAS 2 and CAS 3 are basically just performance specifications. For example your stick may be guaranteed to to CAS3 at 133, but if it is better than spcified it may very well do CAS 2 at that frequency. I had some crucial PC133 CAS3, and it ran stable CAS2 2-2-2 up to 138.

Hey guys. I changed the RAM to cas2, and my comp wouldn't bootup after the change :( . I got an error, and it kept booting itself up. It couldn't go beyond the windows logo screen. I guess I'm stuck at cas3 :).

Cheers

Try with a bit lower FSB, sometimes that helps.
