View Full Version : Buying system parts today-Help!
Three buying concerns - (1) KT7A vs KT7A-Raid if I'm only using one 40gb HD. Any reason to buy the Raid? (2) Buying 1.2 ghz TBird. Any real difference in the 200 fsb cpu vs the 266 fbs cpu? What? (3) Do I really need a 300w power supply or will a 250w take care of the system. 1 HD, 1CDburner, 1CD/DVD, SCSI card for Scanner, GeForce 2GTS 32mb DDR,Two extra case fans. Thanks for your knowlrdge, please don't guess. I start building tonight.

1) No. Unless you plan on buying a second HD exactly like the one you currently own.
2) People's opinion on this matter will differ but I say spend the little extra and get the 266 FSB version.
3) Get a 300w power supply off the bat, for AMD systems that has become the standard.
Hope this helps and good luck on building your system.

Thank you for you advice. I was thinking along the same lines. Have changed the case & cpu order. Sad, but I'll have to wait until Tuesday to pick up the parts and get started.

1) If you think you might want more than 4 IDE devices the RAID boards are nice. (You don't need to use them as RAID they can also be used as more IDE connectors.) I can have up to 8 IDE devices without adding any cards. :)

1. Ditto what Junglist19 said
2. 266fsb has better chance of being unlocked and an AXIA.
3. Ditto on 300w - I recommend a Enermax.
Have Fun.
