I fairly new to overclocking, right now I have a 1.2ghz Athlon thunderbird, socket A, in an Abit KT7A-RAID motherboard. I currently can overclock the CPU to 1333mhz but I can't seem to get any higher. Any suggestions? I have a good heatsink and 4 extra case fans fr ventilation, should I still get better cooling for the CPU, could that be the problem? May 12th I am going to be upgrading to a real 1.33ghz 266mhz Thunderbird, but I would love to overclock that one as well... I'm stumped.... here's my system specs....

Abit KT7A-RAID
1.2ghz@1.33ghz
512mb PNY pc-133
Voodoo5
40gig 7200rpm ATA100
Soundblaster Live! Platinum
I built the system myself...
and I have 3 separate partitions with 3 separate operating systems...
LINUX Mandrake 7.2, WINDOWS ME, and BeOS 5.3

Any help would be very appreciated..... thanks, Jason

The things you want to include with an inquiry such as yours would be:
Multiplier & FSB Speed settings
Vcore and VI/O settings
Observed CPU temp under load
Temp observed inside case (System Temp)
What kind of Ram you are using PC100, PC133, PC150 and CL2 or 3.
The HSF make and model.
A brief description of how the disfunction manifests once your OC goes too far.

PNY is some fair memory. I had some PC100CL3 and it ran PC100CL2 as well as PC133CL3.

I would do like they said and get some Crucial 256 CL2 $113.??if you are looking for 1.333 get the 1.0 AXIA its the same thing as 1.333 but cheaper so you can save a few bucks
