View Full Version : Does my CPU become hotter when changing the multiplier?
Hi
Does my CPU become hotter when changing the multiplier or just when changing the FSB setting??? Thanx
Marc
The amount of heat dissipated by your CPU is a function of its overall speed (mult * fsb) and the voltages you run it at. So, upping either the multiplier or fsb will increase the temp, somewhat.

Just thought I'd add to what Hoot said: by just changing the multiplier and keeping the same speed you will NOT increase your temps. For example, your CPU will run at the same temperature at 1 GHz, regardless of whether you are running at 10*100 or 7.5*133.
