80mm Fan Ducts

i wouldn't recommend ducting on the CPU fan that would eliminate air flow from spilling out of the sides.

most NB coolers depend on your cases airflow and/or run off from the CPU cooler to remain cool. unless you have some beefy case cooling i'd recommend against it.

Would these ductings fit onto a Thermalright SK-7? I am about to get the SK-7 and it has these strange clips to fit 80mm fans, how could these ductings be fitted, or are they just unnecessary anyway?

I wonder just how much cooler and quieter they really make things.

Ahhh ... the ThermalTake "ducting mod". ;)

That unit is meant to be screw mounted is it not?
Not sure how you'd attach that to the SK-7 since they
have wire clip mounts instead.
Someone will have a solution.

Not sure I'd call that a true "duct" though. It's more an angled
spacer IMhO. If I'm not mistaken, the real advantage to that piece is
to move the fan farther away from the heatsink to help
eliminate the "dead spot" created by the fan hub.

I have an SK-7 myself and believe it or not, you can fit a 92mm on
the SK-7 if you rotate the fan 90 degrees and bend the
wire fan clips up over the corners.
However, the larger fan didn't give lower temps.
No, the temps were actually higher with the 92mm than with
the 80mm. Both fans were Enermax adjustables.
Needless to say the 80mm is back on there. ;)
