Do NOT use 3716 bios(newest one).. i prefer 3507

Why?

What's wrong with 8RDA3609 BIOS
and
What's wrong with 8RDA3716 BIOS

Most people get 10-15+ less FSB using the 3716 bios.. i tested it on 2 8rda+ rev 1.1 and a 2.0 and it resulted in massive FSB loss on all of them.
There is nothing wrong with the 3609 bios but i have done best with the 3507 bios on most boards by a small amount.
If you have a board with A1/C1 stepping DO NOT flash with a bios older than 3305 or you will be screwed.

Thank you.

It's about OC being reduced by that many FSB? (wow)

I suppose going back to BIOS 3507 is recommended for all.

I tried the 3716 BIOS when I was running Corsair TWINX 3200C2 memory, and found it produced better bandwidth with no ill effects. Everyone else bitched about 3716. I think it was an attempt by Epox to address complaints about memory incompatability problems between memory controller and some brands of memory.

I use 3609 BIOS for current setup and like it.

Hope this helps!

Hm.. this is conflicting information, can anyone else vouch for loss or gain when updating to the 3716 BIOS?

Could it be that it depends on what kind of RAM we're using?

the bios has nothing to do with fsb result, it's the quality of the flash, i had flashed the bios while overclocked and was having all sorts of problems, then i underclocked and flashed again and everything went away giving more stable results

A silly question here. i am using a Rev 2.1 board. The board is come with 3609 BIOS. I would like to give 3507 a try. Is it ok? Bcoz 2.1 is new with the VDD voltage adjustment... so i lose the option if i flashed to this older BIOS version?

You have a 2.1.

Why would you want to go back? I definitely would not.

Q is are you better off with 8RDA3609 BIOS or 8RDA3716 BIOS, I'd say definitely not early versions in your case. Most of us have 1.1 board.

That's why you always load optimal settings before and after you flash, everytime.

the bios has nothing to do with fsb result
This is completely untrue.

I had tested them all on 2.0 and 1.1 boards.. 2.1 is basically same as 2.0.

why don't you explain why it is untrue q149?

If you mean what the technical reason for this is, that's one thing but don't be making fun of him for saying that different BIOSes may affect overclocking.

Some but not all BIOS versions affect overclocking, I've been coming across this all the time, just never paid much attention to it.

I don't need to explain.. this is a commonly known fact and you are wrong. Obviously you have no clue what a bios even does. I must say, you are probably the only person out of the 30000 members here that would think or say a bios has no affect on maximum fsb.

Anybody compared new BIOS 3827 to old ones?
