WHAT!? That's preposterous! :D I bet in the poll, the "girls" were actually guys. :D

But it's weird because it says that girls over 18 play more than guys aged 6 to 17. Although, I guess it can be reasonable, I see and hear a lot more of 6 to 17 year old boys talk about games and such...heck, that's the age and sex I see most in my local game sales/rental store.

That isn't what it says in the article, a few paragraphs down it says
The largest group of gamers, at 38 percent, is men 18 and up, while girls 6 to 17 account for 12 percent of game players, the poll found.

There are more girls over 18 that play more than boys ages 6 to 17.

It's not saying the all the female gamers in the world out-number all the males.

maybe its due to the fact that the systems are more targeted towards 18+ ? There are "childrens' games" but kids can only play so many Yu Gi Ho and Pokemon games.

Ah ok, I read the title of the thread and I'm thinking no way in hell. I don't think that makes much sense though, to compare different sexes of different age groups and say that they play more games.

Yes, that is quite a shady article considering what they are tryng to say. Females 18 and up out number smally boys in video game playing. That doesn't come close to justifying the title.

Thats what most of these articles do, they have the windows games listed in the survey options... :rolleyes:

Ok this report is on the world not the US it's beginning is a little desiving, while in western countries the majority of game players are young males but in asia the amount of females playing is enough to upset the international balance, Sorry Big Red but they are talking about consoles mostly 70% of Japanese women under the age of 21 own a games console of some sort and as women out number men here thats quite alot of female gamers!

To be honest I actually forgot about consoles when thinking about this article :p

Most Women I know play Solitare/ or Freecell. If that counts then there are a lot of "Female Gamers" out there.

I wish my GF was into games..that means she would not hassle me everytime I buy new hardware. In fact, for my Birthday/X-mass she refuses to buy me anything computer related....but without her "practical" gifts I would have mucho comp parts and no underwear or socks:p

Maybe its just me... but this seems normal to me. I know a lot of girls that play games and it just seems normal to me. Nothing extraordinary... Maybe its just the people I meet? I dunno, but a lot of you guys don't know girls that play games?? Maybe I'm weird...
