I was on my pc last night, and after a few hours, my internet stopped working, I figured it was a network outage. My mom got back from her camping trip and I had to put my router back up so she can get connection whenever the outage was fix (I assumed that was the problem) However as soon as I fixed it, her internet worked, but mine still dosent work.
Bottom line is I tried everything, new nic card, reinstalled windows, disabled and reabled internet devices etc....
My question is this, could my motherboard have gone wacko? I am not getting internet at all on that pc, idk wtf happened it just stopped.
Im on my moms pc now, and im losing my mind no internet for 24 hours so far, and I just checked my cables etc and its the pc, and to top it all off, I broke my old pc when I was putting it back together . I thought I could use that while I rma my board, and also I just got my radeon 9800 so I cant try it.
i assume you're back on your router... have you reset the router? have you tried to see what's going on with the connection through "ipconfig /all"? can you "ping" to your computer from your mom's?

This happened before I put the router on, and yes I have tried that also.

Here's a couple things to do to get us more info:
Start/run/ type cmd and hit enter
type:
ipconfig
post the results -- are you getting a 192.168.x.x IP like usual? If not, try running these:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
That should try to get you a new IP.
If you have a good IP, try pinging the router, 192.168.x.1 is usually it's address. Can you ping it?
ping 192.168.x.1
(where X is a router-specific number, the same 3rd octet as your IP address)

I can ping and I do get my ip through IP config, theres just no possible way my pc can get the outside internet, idk wtf happened but I am about to put a hole in my motherboard.

ok. It's possible your DNS isn't configured correctly... try running this:
ipconfig /all
Interested in this line:
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Should point to your router.
Try pinging an IP:
ping 4.2.2.1
If that gets through, then you can communicate with the internet fine, but the DNS is messed up. (4.2.2.1 is a real IP.. really easy to remember too)

Ok I was able to ping 4.2.2.1 just fine, and I did ipconfig all does not show my dns as my router, I got 3 addresses, 167.206.3.154 167.206.3.220 and 167.206.3.155. How do I change my dns to reflect my router?

Nevermind, I just checked the dns on this machine and I have the same servers... Im relly getting frustrated, so im going to sleep now and worry about it tomorrow... :(
[EDIT] OK now im using just the cable modem connected to the pc I couldnt get online with, and guess what, its working, guess my router is a little "borked".

Weird. Try resetting your router. The problem is something to do with DNS. (I guess your router doesn't have a caching nameserver installed, so it just uses your ISP's DNS servers.)
If you feel like trying some more stuff, try pinging your DNS servers, see if they're responding.

I the same problem with my linksys wireless router, and I it connects to the internet about 70% of the time, but sometimes it just doesn't.
But when I unplug it for about 5 seconds and plug it back in, it works again.
Anyone know what this means?
