I came across this Optrex # DMC24201 small LCD. I just want to display my temps or something like that. Can I hook this up to my parallel port without a controller (i've heard of some people doing this)
Any info would help.

Yes you can.
Do a Google search for LCD connection schematics and you will surely find one (that 14pin connector is quite standard)

THANKS!

I am new to this LCD stuff, how about software to run it. BTW, I saw your post on your LCD project. That is "the" coolest LCD I have ever seen. Good job on the wiring and the enclosure.

Thanks,
There a lot of drivers/progs for driving LCDs:
LCD Smartie (http://backupteam.gamepoint.net/smartie/)
JaLCDs (http://www.jalcds.de/)
LCDstudio (http://www.lcdstudio.com/)
LCD driver (http://www.2morrow.com/lcdd/)
And probably other too...
