Hey,

What is a typical overclock on this chip? I know that its running at a 12.5 multiplier now (I believe). I just wanted to see how many other people had this chip and how far they were able to take the mult up.

I tried upping the fsb but It didn't like that very much at all lol. I have all the eqp in my sig. So if someone has some experence with this chip I would love to hear it. It would greatly help me figure out which way is the best way to start on my barton OC. Thanks!

All Thouroughbred B's and Bartons OC between 2.2 and 2.4 GHZ.
Most do around 2.3.

It all depends on the rest of your equipment.

If you can't do what's described here:
http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=207088
then something's up specific to your setup.

2500+ is a great OCer and 2800+ should do easier what 2500+ is known to do so it's not the CPU 4 sure.

Memory is fine but the heatsink is not that great. You will most definitely get more out of your CPU with:

Finally, you may be using cheapo power supply which is probably the culprit. Remember Watts don't matter at all as much as brands.

I would suggest putting PSU brand and case and how many case fans you have in your sig instead of the cdrom info.

(I'm guessing your prob is the PSU, though)

Lets See....

Right now im idling about 28C and I run about 35C after full load. If you think I need a upgrade in HS I can do that. I was thinking of going to an SLK-900. I actually bought the MCX-462. But my board did not have the mounting holes. So I traded it for the Volcano 7+ and some $$$... If I need to I don't have any problems in spending the extra for the better HS

The power supply is a cheapo. And I have been thinking of goingto an antec like my other machine but I wanted to try and see how this one did. Surprisingly enough the 5V rail on it stays pretty constant. But If I need to (lol again) I don't have any problems getting an Antec true 430.

I just read through the oc guide and thats great. Opposite what I did before lol (FSB before Mult). So I will go through that and see what happens. Thanks!
