HELP!!! This think is crackin' out on me!!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on overclocking this K62-350 I have. It's on an FIC VA-503+ mobo w/ 64MB PC100. So, I set the multiplier to 4x and that o/c's it to 400mhz. All seems well, it boots up and everything... goes into windows... seems normal. I watch a movie on it...seems fine. Lemme try playing mp3's...it's ok...dammit!! It freezes. I mean mouse pointer not moving, num lock key won't disactivate freeze. I was guessing was the o/c'ing, but it does the same thing when I go back to 350mhz. I don't think it's CPU heat... I have a lapped GW FOP32 w/ arctic silver on the chip. It seems to only freeze when I play mp3's. That's both in winamp and windows media. Help guys!!! Any ideas?? Thanks!

Sounds like a soundcard problem, have you tried to reload the drivers? When mine starts to do strange things I just reload Windows, no format, just reinstall it. Works every time.

Did you up the vcore at all? A lot of K6-2's will not OC at all without a voltage increase of some sort. Your cooling should be more than adequate, so go ahead and feed her 2.3 volts to the core, more if need be. I wouldn't go higher than 2.8 volts though.
