View Full Version : can I reformat drive in compaq presario to remove WinME and install Win98?

Hope so! I have dnloaded drivers for chipset, sound and video...will this work?

I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work, unless there are required drivers that aren't available for 98. Since you have the three you mentioned, though, you should be OK. Might want to keep a backup of your ME installation just in case, though, unless you feel pretty sure about it.

There is no reason why it shouldn't work. Even if the drivers you got are specially for winME they should still work in 98 since its similar. If they don't work it should not be too hard to find drivers for anything anyways. All should go as planned. Good Luck!

Reformatted. Then typed SYS C: Then typed E:setup...Windows98
installed flawlessly...did not even have to install any drivers...they were all there already!
