The Tiger Is Going Into The Top 1000

Hey Just to let you guys know I'm back in and folding! I'm almost in the top 1000 again, hopefully I will be regaining my usual place after a long sabatical.

Here's what the "FARM" Consists of So far:

2.10GHz Athlon XP
1.2GHz Athlon
850MHz Pentium III
Celeron (don't know MHz but it folds fast enough for me)
The Celery runs 24Hrs a day and is on the web 24/7 so, it is effectively generating the most WU's.

Hope I can add some more POWER Soon!!

Welcome back!
That looks like a pretty good farm, too bad only the celly can run 24/7. How much to the other machines run? Those two athlons would pump out lots of points if you could get them to run 24/7.

The Celly is at school as it is our web and wemail server, so its a 24/7 machine! The rest are my own rigs, as i only have dialup (and dialup is expensive here) i don't let them over night but on weekends they can fold 24hrs a day for saturday and sunday!

Doesn't it only have to connect to send the WU and receive another one via dialup? All that running 24/7 would have you in the top 500 in a few weeks.

Hey, if you're on dial suck and can't escape it, why don't you start running two or more clients on each rig? That way, when one client is finished, there will be others still folding.

The additional clients would split up the cpu usage equally until one of them was done with a WU and couldn't send it in.

Either way, welcome back and good luck on your climb up the Team 32 mountain. It's getting mighty difficult these days.

A lot has changed in the last few months I've been away!
However I'll be folding as much as possible, its just that with dialup I have to watch my phone bill :(

Only the celly at the school runs 24/7 and thats the only solid folder I have at the minute. I might do a mad dash round some internet cafe's and ask them to join the fold. I'm sure I can get them to join and then you will all be amazed how fast I'll shoot up that ladder!

This is true however on 56k dial up this can take +/- 15mins on my cheap dialup connection, which gets quite expensive even on a local call here in South Africa, DSL is only just being introduced but people are hopping on the broadband bandwaggon so quickly here it won't be long before I can afford to get some DSL power.
