How can I do this? Wireless or Wired...?

I want to be able to leave on some folding rigs 24/7. The problem is we only have wired internet upstairs (in my room and my brother's room). I can use wireless downstairs, but I don't want to spend lots of money on buying cards for each folding rig. Is there a way I can put a wired router downstairs, but have the internet signal coming from the upstairs router? I need some way of doing this without wiring the whole house or using costly wireless cards. Thanks.

hmmm....i guess if you got a wireless nic for one you could set that one up to send the net connection out with like ICS or something to the folding rigs, but i dunno how well that would work.....or if it would work at all.

lemme check up on all the wireless hardware and see what I can come up with

The best thing I can come up with is to get a second wireless router for upstairs, because the two wirelss routers should communicate with eachother, and then u can just use the wired connections for your folding rigs, and have the two routers communicate wireless style.

That way you only have to buy 1 $100 router, instead of X $75 wireless cards.

that first idea numbstruck had should work, if the folding rigs are running windows i know for sure it would. basically, one cmputer will have a wireless card and a wired nic, and yu set up the wirless portion first. then you get a cheap switch, im sure there are ten dollar ones somewhere, and connect all the folding rigs to it. enable ics on the computer with a nic and wifi, and run the ics setup on the rest. nics are cheap, switches are cheap. the wifi card is probably the most expensive thing

basically a wireless router upstairs connecting to downstairs and a switch with the rigs should work,,,

How do you feel about running 1 wire from upstairs? If you run a single wire from the switch upstairs to one that is downstairs, then all of the folding machines could wire into a cheap hub/switch downstairs.
