Hey, don't encourage others to steal! :P

I've always liked Antecs, and Lian-Li cases (if you can afford the latter... eek!).

I like the Chieftec/Antec cases. Here is an excellent place to get a case without a powersupply. I wouldn't buy their powersupplies.

xaser 3 is very loud because of the cavitation (sp?) caused by the bad grills and filters. It also has lousy air flow.

I reccomend this http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/cas-40.html or http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/cas-01.html this case from FrozenCPU. Can be dead quiet, offer great airflow.

I would NEVER buy from Xtreme Gear again. I bought 2 sticks of RAM from them, they aid they were in stock and would ship next day. 3 days later, I email them. It appears they were 'backordered' I check their site, and it still says in stock for shipment next day. After changing their story twice in email (from backorder to ship next day to backorder again) I finally asked for a refund. Atleast that was easy *enough* to get.

From what I hear the Antec Sonata cases are quite nice, even tho it only has 2 fans they are both 120mm. One front intake and one rear exaust. Which will result in a much quiter case then 2 fron 80 mm and 2 rear 80mm fans with about the same airflow.

@ Newegg for $99 + shipping (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=N82E16811129127)

If you have the money go for the Coolermaster ATC-111 It has dual 80mm front intake fans, 80mm blowhole and one rear exaust. The cooling in this case is extrodnary. When I moved from my steel case to my coolermaster my temps dropped 6*C. Its a bit much to pay for a case but I look at it as an investment. This case is gonna last 3x longer than most other cases. My favorite feature of the case is the removable motherboard tray. Its not just the motherboard its the pci cards too. Not to mention even the pci slots have thumb screws. All the fans have grills on them and the blue hdd and power led's are just coolness ^^

@ Newegg $154 + shipping (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=N82E16811119014)

If you have time, wait for them to pop up in the refurb section and save your self 30+ bucks not to mention you get free shipping on refurbs.

if you have the money i recommend the lian-li pc-65. it was very fun to mod and has lots of cool features. really easy to work with.

Quiet and 5 case fans don't go together:p

Serisouly get a case with 120mm fans.

I have an antec with 2 120's and I added a 3rd to the side. Tons of air movement and with the 7v mod or a rheobus it is very quiet.

I have the 3700, but a buddy has the Sonata with is nice too

Get an Antec Sonata, it is suppose to be the quiestest case out there and it has two 120mm fan slots. You can add more to the side and top of you want. I consider one 120mm fan equal to two 80's but in reality they are more like 2 and a half 80's. The Sonata even comes with a front intake filter. It even comes with a nice 380w Antec power supply. I can't remember if it is a truepower or a solution though.

Yeah if you want good quiet cooling 120mms is the way to go, NOT tons of 80s. The Antec sonata and the Antec SLK-3700 are great choices. Also the lite-on fs020 is a great case with 120mm fans.

Also this case:
http://www.directron.com/cslx6a19bl.html

is internally the same as the antec slk-3700 and it comes without a PSU bundled with it.

I'll throw in another reccomendation for the Antec SLK3700AMB.

Front and rear 120mm fan mounts
removable internal and external 3.5" bays
Drive rails for 5.25" drives
rubber grommets for HDD mounting
front USB
comes with a real PSU (SmartPower 350W)

I got my case from them. I think Hoot got a case there too. I doubt I'd trust them with anything other than cases. :D

Fs-020. If I drop it on someone's foot... they die.... 3x120mm fan slots > 5x80

If size and price aren't really an issue, then go for this one at Server Case (http://www.servercase.com/miva/miva?/Merchant2/merchant.mv+Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SC&Product_Code=YY0221&Category_Code=ALS).

This will be my next case. People say that the airflow isn't that great, but there's an answer for that. It's called modding. :D

Grrrr... Fixed link. Thanks eXCeSS

Ew, look at all that plastic. If I were modding that I'd probably cover up the whole thing; metal texture, rusted seachest, raw sewage... something.

The Sonbata and the 3700 are not the same inside. The Sonata is wider, the hard drives are sideways, and the Sonata is a lot quieter than the 3700.

This I know but I was refering to the CompuCase LX-6A19 that I linked to. Its the same case as the slk-3700. The only differences are the front bezel, paint job etc.

Definitely go for a case with 120mm fans, and better yet, one with 120mm blowholes. Before I put these in, my case temp was around 35-8C; now it's 21C as I type this!

yea the blow holes make a huge difference. I added a 120mm blow hole and 7volted the fan down to a really low speed. It still dropped my CPU load 5C.

I really like my lian li. With 6 stock fan holes, and 2 120mm holes cut in the top/bottom. I highly recommend the lian li' because of their high build quality, ease to use, extremly light compared to chieftech cases, and awesome look. I spent $180 on a case....but it makes it so much easier when I want to change something, to have all the room the lian li's provide. Not only are they wider, but they are a decent amount deeper, so if you have a long video card, you might have problems with hard drive mounting, or IDE cables going to cdrom drives...(brother has a chieftec full tower, and his TI4600 nearly touches his hard drives....)

Hey,

Has anyone got any UK websites where i can get a case.

I am looking for something about £80-£100, little less or little more can be done.

Ideally, i wouldnt mind a removable motherboard tray and many fan slots, but as you have said i want at least 1 if poss 2 120mm fan slots in it!

Has anyone got any reccomendations. Its alot to ask.

Space is also an issue, wouldnt mind having alot of it.

I have a PSU so i want a case without one!

Alot to ask, can anyone come up with anything!? Ive looked for so long

thanks for your time

Jonny

It's a Pioneer 305S (http://www.agp.co.uk/pioneerdvd305.htm) but I don't remember where I bought it. I think it only comes as a SCSI drive.

I think the case for you is the Lian Li PC-60. Comes with removable motherboard try, 4 spaces for 80mm fans, and easily moddable for 120mm fans for the top of the case. It has 6 hard drives spaces and 4 5.25 bays for cdroms and whatnot.

I live in the US, so I am not sure where in the UK you can get this. try google, and search for "Lian Li PC60 UK"

Yeah Lian-Li is so great to work on. I almost began to take it for granted until I just built a prometia on the garbage enlight case they use. That extra width is real nice but like RangerJoe said the build quality is key. You don't have to twist and bed the motherboard tray to get it to fit, everything glides in like a knife through butter.

PS: if you are going to consider a Lian-Li there are a bunch of other models other than the PC60 that are nice. The PC-65 comes with a side window and there are some newer versions that have a whole bank of connectors on the front of the case that some may like.

Exactly, there are tons of models at newegg, www.pcmods.com has quite a few for a good price. pcmods has sales all the time too, I got my PC-75 (normally $220 for $180)

I just recommended the PC-60 because the full towers to not have removeable motherboard trays, and for cost reason, the PC-60 is plenty of case for *most* people.

www.coolcases.com

Here for instance are some mods they do on what they call the THE D8000 which is a CompuCase LX-6A19 (which is what the antec slk-3700 is based on.. got it? hehe).

Anyways I have emailed them in the past with questions and they will do pretty much whatever you ask. They don't have a real fancy online order system but if you list out what fans etc you would like they could probably do it.

I bought my PC-60 USB for only $94 (plus $12 shipping) at http://www.pc-beyond.com. Don't buy anything else there, though; the shipping is prohibitive for anything but cases.

oh, they might be 460 watt enermaxs now..but you know what i mean

none of the lian li's come with power supplies

This case from directon is pretty bad for the money...Blow hole...92 above the power supply...two 80's in the back one in the door...and three up front...do a search for "cheap panflo's"...7 volt them and they rock...I am stuck on Sonata's right now but these Chieftec's are bad to the bone...Proven performers...Solid build...I mean 7 80's and a 92 is some fans...Nice full tower...And cheap...Paid 98.00 two months ago... http://www.directron.com/ma01bd.html
