I had the same prob before goin from 1004 to 1003a. Try this, use the clearCMOS jumpers. Once it clears the CMOs, it should reset the bios and let you boot again, then I suggest you go ahead and reflash it to 1003a or 1004.

not shure bout this but i think once the bios is flashed you must flash it to reset it

You could try contacting Asus and see if they can send ya another bios chip.

look at your manual it should tell you where the clear CMOS jumper is. when you find it set it from 1-2 to
2-3 and weight 5 seconds. then set it back and pray to god that it works :)

You could also remove the battery from the mobo, and uplug it and wait ten minutes or so...that should clear it.

I have the A7V133 board and it does not have jumpers for clearing the cmos
it has 2 solder points that you have to contact out. They are located right next to the battery

1)In case you haven't found it yet the solder points to clear the CMOS are marked "CLRTC" and as previously stated is next to the battery.

2)If that doesn't work don't panic yet the A7V133 is a twitchy beast. Try removing the battery, use a paper clip across the "CLRTC" solder points, and set the board to "jumpered" mode by setting the JEN jumper from 1-2 to 2-3. Adjust the dip switches to match the frequency setting for the CPU (page 22 & 23). Then power up the computer if it POSTs then power down (the LED on the motherboard should not be lit). Change the JEN jumper to 1-2 fire it up again, go into BIOS and adjust the settings to match the CPU and Ram configuration (if necessary).

3)If the above doesn't work you may need (as previously stated) to get a new BIOS chip or a local computer store should be able to flash your existing chip for you. When you flash the BIOS with the AFLASH.exe utility when it is done it should have said "Flashed Sucessfully" if not you should have restored the previous BIOS rev. If a BIOS update is not successful and the computer is powered off you may have to get the BIOS chip replaced (It is very likely not physically damaged only brain wiped).

Good Luck :) and sorry about your bad luck :(

BTW I very rarely flash my BIOS unless something isn't working and I really believe it will help.

Problem with trying to re-flash that bios is that if it wont even boot up, theres no way to flash it, on any motherboard.

Well at least you got Cmon sense thats what i was trying to tell every 1 dur dur man Iam never EVER EVER buying an ASUS neither an AMD again Ever If they dont replace my motherboard iam selling my CPU and Mother Board on ebay with everything else 1 Word for any 1 who wants a computer that works but not be as fast as an AMD its called "INTEL" Amd = advanced Micro Disasters they can keep there over heating piece of crap. that breaks if u look @ it.

The only real chance to recover from a bad flash is prior to rebooting. After that a bad flash involves pulling the Bios chip and replacing the chip or having someone with the right equipment flash it for you. (I have a friend with the correct equipment.)

Wellthanks any way golden wing i tried what u said for like 1 hr i tried it over and over and it didn't work still won't boot up at all just nuttin i dont hear the sounds as if it was going on damn AMD iam not buying 1 again I look towards 2.0ghz P4 Intel = ) ty all for you'r advice and help.

Don't blame your bad flash on AMD or Asus... I have done it many, many times and have never had a problem... even accidentally downloaded the wrong flash, and realized after I was done, I just downloaded the correct one on a different computer and did it again before I restarted the computer.

I'm sorry for your loss there. But before you go slamming AMD or ASUS, keep in mind that there are millions of these motherboards / CPU's out there, and many more with the Intel label. They are all flashed the same way, if you don't follow the procedures, it doesn't matter which board it's on, you're going to have problems. It all comes back to the same thing, research. You need to get as much information as possible. Read everything that you can find about whichever modification you are doing. If you don't know what you are doing, and follow the correct procedures, this is the type of thing that happens. You are modifying an expensive and very advanced piece of electronic equipment. Travel at your own risk, regardless of which manufacturer. They all have their own quirks.

Remember, RESEARCH!

Good luck in the future!

As a side note ReTiCuLe, the P4 chugs out just as much heat as a 1330MHz Athlon. Athlons have higher tolerances for heat than Intels do so they aren't "overheating" they are operating in spec for there temps. A P3 at 55'C will die in a couple of months, an Athlon at that temp will run for much longer. Anyhow, bad bios flashes happen all the time, it has nothing to do with the brand you bought(I have killed more than one Pentium mobo), it's a risk you take when you "burn" a chip like that. Most of the time it hardly offers any advantage anyway.

The information that you need to clear the CMOS on that board is located on page 59 (at least in mine it is), You'll find it in the paragraph about clearing the password.

Why did you flash ? something wasn't working??

You have some other options. If you go to Bad Flash.com (http://www.badflash.com) you could order a replacement BIOS chip. I have ordered from them before and recommend them. I know how you feel though. I screwed up a BIOS of a motherboard I had because I installed it in backwards.

I would try calling Asus tech support they might just send you a new bios chip. Abit did for me, free of charge.
