Hi Guys,
I have decided to OC my processor due to fact i want more Mhz to fuel my games :)

I have an abit kt7 mobo with a tbird 800..now i have tried the pencil trick..1st time i could get to 950..but system was running a bit hot for my tastes..around 52oC and i was running into reg errors...so i took it back to 800 while i researched more..i also had the system hang when trying to go x10 mp..now i know pencil isnt the best solution..is conductive ink pens the easiest and surefire way to get a good connection on the L1 bridges?

since then, i redid the bridges with me trusty pencil and now the ******* wont go above 850 as it actually gets slower if i take it higher..x9 takes me to 700 mhz...got any idea's??

oh yer i have a coolermaster hsf rated to 1Ghz so that should be ok and i am using AS2 compound so no worries there..anyone experienced similar cobblers??

did you try increasing the core voltage?

It sounds like your reapplication of the 'pencil trick' wasn't a success. I'd opt for a more permanent solution..conductive pens are cheap, and I've not had one that I did correctly need redoing....I've done a lot since just after the introduction of socket-A.

Get a better cooler. If you can stand the noise a Global-Win WBK-38 will fill the bill at not a great deal of expense. There are others, such as the Alpha PAL6035 and Alpha PEP66V2..check for motherboard fit. I'll not suggest coolers that I haven't used.

Give Burning-in a try to reach a higher clockspeed.
Theory and parctice found here: http://people.freenet.de/s.urfer/conditioning.htm I give my burn-ins a week. Lower the multiplier and up the vcore..to the point of instability, and never let your reported temps. exceed 45C.
