AMD has great o/cable procs and I would hate to see them go out of buisness , and ATi might not have very o?cable vid cards , but there fine ones at that , lets not let intel and nVidia take over ok? From what I have been reading about how many people use intel and how many dont use AMD , all the people I know who think they know computers never heard of AMD , they need marketing.... help the "underdogs" , also , everyone I know use onboard nVidia compaq and gateway and dell crap , Im the only one with AMD and ATi , one other person has an AMD but he got it cuz it was cheap... please help them out , but more =)

I'd say more than half the people here run AMD. I am building a budget pc for a friend and it is gunna be a durron and a Rage Furry (ati). I guess they are underdogs but I don't see either going away any time soon. I have seen a ton of radeon card adds in magazines and always see them on the shelf of computer stores. Many big company's like Gateway and Compaq do offer AMD setups (Dell doesn't though). AMD probably could get more buisness with good marketing but thats part of the reason why they are cheaper than Intell is; a lack of advertisement spending and user base. Hey, it keeps it cheap for me.

I would never suggest buying computer parts at local stores. You will always see jacked prices and a lack of diverstity. Same processor for like $50 at

but, the local places are always good for swapping dead oem parts. ;)

I like dealing at the computer shows, I live around Chicago, so there's one practically every weekend. I wouldn't consider ATI an underdog, they've got market share for OEM's, and they've got their hands in alot of technologies.

If anybodys interested, the Dell / AMD rumors are kicking up again. Hopefully Dell's finally got a clue.
