Sigh... some people.

Ok it took 3 weeks but I finally got my first check. I make 10 cents less than the states minimum wage (might be legal because I live out of state and my state has a lower minimum wage). I got shafted by about 5 hours (Boss said 58 hours, I had worked at least 63, but I was too tired to argue.) AND I'm already 4 days late for my second check, no sign of it. If my third check isn't right and on time, I'm going to have to quite. I spend enough time working. I can spend an hour every night I have off going into work only to be told they dont have my check yet and to come back tomorrow. I keep telling myself, "Just five more months", but I already took a 50% paycut, a loss of about 12 hours a week and a MUCH MUCH worse job for these 6 months experience, if I've got to go through this crap every other week, it isn't worth it. I'll just get my msce and get into computer work. I can pull a working computer out of my rear and just cook recreationally.

(I'm a grunt at a kitchen. Started at the beginning of august. left a job sitting at a computer with internet for 9 hours a day at a scalehouse. I made more in a week at that job then in two weeks BEFORE TAXES (I've not filled my w4 yet) at this job.)

1. Why did you quit the other job?
2. An MCSE isn't a golden ticket, the tech sector isn't that hot right now and there's cats out there with alot more experience.
3. Why are you still working there? They seem shady.

SEEM shady??

Just because YOU are from a state that has a lower minimum wage doesn't mean that they are allowed to pay you that. Last I checked, the employer had to provide minimum wage, not that the employee had to get minimum wage depending on where they live....

frankly, I'd call OSHA or whomever takes care of Labor Laws...your employer is supposed to provide that information via a "federal 5-in-one labor law poster," which is supposed to be posted somewhere in the workplace. It contains information such as minimum wage, equal opprotunity, disability, OSHA, etc, and information on how to contact those agencies if you feel that the laws are being violated.

Anyway, good luck, and for yourself call the authorities....i don't know who exactly, but someone....

Contact your State Board of Labor. For both the pay rate, and tardiness of your paychecks.

Do you punch a time clock?? If so, bring up the missing hours as well. By law, they have to keep the time card for a certain amount of time.

Hope you can get this ironed out, and move to a better job environment as well.

I quit the job because the school Im going to requires 6 months of experience in food sector.

Im still kind of hoping it's just oversight which will be straightened out by my next check.
