HI All

I have a Tbird 1GHz oc to 1.4GHz running on an A7V133 vcore 1.85V. It seems to be stable during everyday use (It looped the 3dmark 2000 and 2001 demoes for 2 hours each without trouble also ran cpu stability test fine for 8hours) but there is a definite problem with this configuration when it comes to shutting down. It only occurrs after Ive installed software that has modified the registry and needs a reboot (I think). When I go to reboot it gets about halfway thru the shutdown and then it comes up with a BSOD saying there was a problem with "vcache.vxd"...i cant remember the exact message. If I reset the pc everything is fine..ie the software etc has been installed OK. It does not do this during normal use. BTW It is on WIN98 SE

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Josh

Typical problem,. These computers are just like air conditioners, They both run fine until you open the windows!
(I owe that quote to somebody else)

Mine did that twice today. I havent pinned down the problem yet but I'm suspecting the power supply. It's only a 300 wat and I think thats the bare minimum for my setup. Gonna go with an Enermax 430.

If you are installing the software while overclocked that can be a source of problems. Try installing the software while running at recomended speeds. (but with intermittent problems you never know when its fixed or not until the next time). :)

Format and install Windows 2000. You won't regret it! :)
