Hi all,

I have XP pro sp1 and the lastest version of outlook express installed.

I'm in a hotel where i connect through the high speed internet access through lodgenet, and my LAN. No problem surfing the net, all firewalls are disabled, even my messenging programs work fine.

All of the sudden though, when I start up outlook express my connection drops. I can't browse anymore, or send and receive e-mails. When I close Outlook express it takes a few minutes and then I can surf again. I tried rebooting, but I'm stuck.

Any options?

Thanks,
M

Try going to

tools-options-connect tab and uncheck hangup after sending and receiving.

Having that option checked will wreak havok on DIA lines after opening OE.

Well that box is unchecked. when I start it up, it will go send and receive automatically, but it can't find a connection, and subsequesntly also "drops" the good connection that i was surfing with.

Does it work fine from home? if it does then go to tools accounts and export all of your accounts.

Then go to file - identity and create a new identity them back to tools-accounts and import the accounts and see if that works.

I exported my accounts and imported them again, didn't solve the problem either.

Now I'm at a different hotel with high speed internet and it works perfectly fine, so it must have had something to do with the way they had set up their network. Anyway for now the problem is solved!

Thats weird. maybe some weird firewall issue there. Well thats good that you are up and running now.
