i was wondering wat a good 3dmark03 score was. i have a 1.53 ghz 768 megs pc2100 with a radeon 9800 and my score is 4805. how is that? good bad? i need a faster cpu...

that sounds about right for a 1.53 ghz. And yes you need a faster CPU, and ram if you can.

Looks good to me as well, anything around 5K is around the top for current cards...

That seems a little low to me....3DM03 doesn't care too much for RAM or CPU settings.....it's pretty much a GPU bench...an R9800PRO should be getting over 5k, maybe even over 6k....

He didn't say it was a Pro.

Yup, your score looks right.

that sounds right to me... my 9600 gets around 3000 so i would say that right for the np. If you have a pro, then that might be kinda low.

hmmmm i scored around 6k with my system. 2100+ @ 2300 mhz, 512 pc3200, 9700 pro @ 360/730

weird, i get ~5100 with my 9500np softmod VERY conservatively clocked. I'd say it's a BIT low, but not very. Faster ram would help I think.

Compare all the game test results with someone with the same card and same clocks.. i bet the first test is way low on youirs and holding you back

my 9800pro on a 214FSB amd gets 5300-5500. looks good to me

well as much as people say cpu doesnt matter it does.

I ran my computer @ stock and got 1355 3dmarks
so then I oced my cpu @ 2.3Ghz and got 1329 3dmarks
I then set my cpu to stock and the oced the 9000pro and got 1392 3dmarks! so I think cpu has little to do with it!

I just ran it at 2340mhz got about 17,600. Then did it again at 2400mhz and got 18,099.

sorry, that was 2001. Did the same thing in 2003 and saw a bit more than a 100 point increase

I have a serious problem then I am getting a 3DMARK score from 3DMARK03 of 1706. Tests were ran at 800x600 with virus scan off. Here are the vitals of the system.

How much of that RAM goes to the onboard video? That said, it doesn't seem to be too bad of a score for that setup. I have a fairly recent P4 computer here at work with onboard video and it was only getting 1800 some in 3DMark01!!

You really dug up an old thread here. 3 years is impressive.

Toss is a cheap vid card (as in the most you can afford) and your score will skyrocket.

I think video card plays a major role in 3dmark...

I am having problems getting a score that is even close to what other systems with a similar config are getting.

My score: 3187
My system:
Pentium 4 3.4GHz
1gb ram (single channel (2x256mb 1x512mb))
Nvidia GeForce 7600GS (AGP 8X)
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G Rev. 4 Motherboard

Windows XP SP2
DirectX 9.0c
Driver Version: 6.14.10.9371

Anyone have any pointers or suggestions as to why I have such a low score? I see scores for my system config ranging from 3200 to 7344.... I am the lowest on the little chart they give you. as a matter of fact, here are my cpu marks and 3d marks:

3DMark Score 3187 3DMarks
CPU Score 3694 CPUMarks

the system that scored a 7344 had a 3DMark Score of 7344 3DMarks and a CPU Score of 4846 CPUMarks, yet had the same video card and processor..

What the heck is wrong with my system? :bang head

Single channel with un-matched DIMM's isn't helping. There's really a ton of things that could be holding you back, can you post an ORB compare link or a screen shot with the result/card clocks showing?

Ok, I will post a link when I get home.... The thing is, the OP said he has a 1.5ghz and 768mb ram... so he has mismatched single channel DIMMS too, and an inferior video card, yet he's getting a much higher score than I am..

his processor is less than HALF the speed of mine, yet he's got a way higher score... GAH

ok here are my results. I don't know how long it will work for, though.

That works. It's all card related, your system performance is good compared to other guys with similar setup's. If the ORB is detecting card clocks correctly your card has very poor or low clocked ram.

so my CPU mark sucks a big one because of the ram on my video card??

also why are people with 7600gs cards getting much higher scores than I am?

I spent $179 for this damn card not more than 2 months ago and it ****es me off that it's getting such crappy scores. sure, it plays world of warcraft pretty well, but my 3dmark score is ridiculous.

it still upsets me that someone with a 1.5ghz cpu and a ati 9800 is getting a score 1.5 times what I get. I hate my system. I spent way too much for these components and I'm getting far too little performance.

I noticed the memory clocks for your card we're about half of what some other 7600GS's (256mb versions) we're. You have to remember these cards come in many different forms under the same name. Yours appears to have DDR2, while the 256 (DDR3) cards with memory running twice as fast are naturally goinng to score better. As far as the 9800 score(s) go you also have to remember that the best scores on the ORB are running crazy cooling and cpu speeds, it's not realistic to compare against those scores.

BTW, welcome :)

thanks for all the help. I still don't know why someone is getting better CPUmark scores than i am with the same CPU.... I'm not necessarily comparing with the crazy systems... I'm comparing my score with 1) the same system configuration and 2) with other systems with inferior specs.

I guess my system is just ****ty.

Well maybe - stick around for a while and you may learn how to build a box that will kick the crap outta everything.
