Don't bother downloading. It's a bad game. Really boring. Click a few times, and watch little explosions that look exactly the same every single time.
I'll stick with Freelancer.

Sorry i would disagree Homeworld was an awesome game and as a stratagey game far superior and rewarding than alot of other resource games out there.
Careful Zim your post is nearly thread crapping
I liked the first game. One of my friends works for Relic here (the company behind the game)

Bite your tongue Zim! If you dis Homeworld or Homeworld 2 again i will send over the BOYS to Rearange your furniture!!!!
I have looked forward to this game for a while now and can see i wont be disappointed.
It runs so darn smooth (ummmhummm thats goooood coding). Most any machine will be able to run it.
I hope they have some surprises for us. Be a shame if it was the same old same old. But theyve dont well so far.

in my book it is thread crapping.
on topic
I haven't had the opportunity to play the first one. but from playing the brief tutorial, and a few games with the computer i'm definitely interested. I dont see any real innovations genre-wise (in this case Real time stragedy) but it is slow paced enough and involves much more thought than the games that use 1337 build orders like warcraft III and starcraft.

the thing that i like is that it's completely 3 dimensional, unlike all the other tired rts titles out there. i can only think of one other game that was like this, but it was "underwater" and graphically didn't come close to this.

I have a question to you Homeworld fans... I've often had my eyes on the game, but does it have a "free for all" game style?
AFAIK the game is pretty linear and thus playing is restricted to the missions in the story.. right?!?!?
Cheers, Flix

I'm just saying i really don't like the game. The 3d management doesn't seem to play a huge roll in the gameplay. I never liked the first Homeworld either. I just can't stand the first mission. It's so boring!
You click. Your ships fly around and shoot the enemy bombers. They blow up. Repeat until done.
Did i mention the music? You can be sitting there, watching the mother ship doing nothing, and you hear this Indian drumming. Odd.
Personally, I'm staying with Rise of Nations for RTS, and Freelancer for Space.

The things you dont like about the game are the things that made it best game of the year(homeworld 1). Did you know that the band YES did some of the music for the game if not all of it.
And 3d managment takes a big roll in the game. Most missions involve the entire axis of space, not a linear 2d environment.
I could go on but peeps who like RTS or space games might want to give this a try especialy if you liked HOMWORLD and CATACLYSM.
ZIM, I understand you dont like the game. I cant change that. I just hope people dont read your posts and think this game sucks.
I have called off the BOYS and wont be rearanging anything!(although they got wind of how messy your room was and were looking forward to some decorating and FENG SHUI)
Edit: The boys used to rearange faces for me but have since taken to rearanging furniture and such...not as intimidating I know but it is scary what a bit of lace and spackle can do to a mans room!

This demo absolutley blew me away, Since I got it i have wired away hours on it, i have yet to play the missions, but the multiplayer is amazing. The build system, adn the research systems took a bit of time to get used to, however i think now that i understand it it speeds the gameplay up. I greatly enjoy the ability to que the research up, as i was notorious for forgetting to select my next research item in cataclysm. The graphics are beautigul, everything from the ships to the explosions, when i seen the mothership explode for the first time i was stunned, the sound is amazing, especially if you zoom into the fight. This demo is absolutely amazing if you enjoy the game, i for one will be picking this one up the day it is released.
