Look here on preorder. (http://www.shoprbc.com/ca/shop/product_details.php?pid=3666)

Yeah baby. This is in Canadian. $839 in US currency, cheap no doubt. I see XP 1700 and 2500 all the way deep in 2004. Overclocking galore.

Explains why such a price. AMD actually does not want you to buy this CPU since the release on Sept 23 is actually only paper release of processor. Remember the last few years.
The release is only for benchmarking on AMD fan web sites and for drooling of the regular AMD cheerleading squad that cannot afford it. You know the same squad that drooles on the sight of Opteron. ;)

Yes, if you read the articles Ed has been writing there will still be Athlon XPs amd will transition them to 90nm and continue to make them. So for cheap cpus, that would probably be the ticket.

As for A64, I may consider once there is software out that takes advantage of x86-64 and when one drops into my price range. (Below 150$ hopefully).

But I think that Athlon Xps will keep most amd fans happy for the time being.

I've been asking for 90nm xps for a while now... mmmm 90.

What would be the approx. die size of a 90nm Barton? Will it suffer from the same power leakages that Prescott is rumoured to suffer from? What would be the approx power dissipation if not?

So are they now going to make more xps? I thought the the xp 3200+ was the last of its kind.... Am I wrong on this?

Is the 90nm athlonxp going to be a 462 socket or the new 700 something socket package?

I hope these 90nm athlons overclock well cause ill sure as heck get one :)

That place shoprbc is pretty expensive to begin with though. 300usd for an opteron 240, and something like 276usd for a 140.
