Should I expect the Prescott to use the same mounting methods as the Northwood or will they change it?
I need those four holes for my waterblock and I refuse to buy another just to please some perfectionist at Intel who moved the holes a bit just to annoy people.

1st bacth of Prescotts will be the same socket as current Northwoods, so you will have no problems thier.
As for when Intel (in a year) move to socket -t , i am not 100% sure about that

Is the -t the 700-some pin socket you speak of, jAY?

Socket T is the 775 pin LGA (Land Grid Array) package
that late Prescotts and all Teja's CPU's will use

the swap to socket t is supposed to occur in early Q1 next year.. which is now only 4 months away ;)

Yeah yeah T that's the one I'm worried about. will they change the heatsink mounting methods for socket T or whatever it will be called?

cant find anythign at intel on Socket T...
Xbit has a pic of it sort of, but doesnt list specs
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/20030325142622.html

but i would image that current heatsinks will be able to fit on.
the CPU's need heatsinks, and i would think if a new system needs to be made, the information would be easy to find

Being a completely new socket it's somewhat doubtful that the mounting holes will be the same, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
