Where can I get them? Thanks.

Do you mean those circuit repair pens or PCB pens? If so almost all computer and electronics stores like radio shack or micro center should have them. Did you break a connection on your motherboard and need to repair it?

Looking for pens to manipulate the multiplier on the XP1700's.

Thanks.

maybe he has pali or different mobo that doesn't unlock multi?

I'm not planning to overclock using FSB. I'm planning to get a dually mobo and they can only go up to about 150 MHZ max. Since I only have 2100 DDR RAM, I'm planning to stick with FSB of 133 MHZ, and adjust the multiplier to reach about 2.2 GHZ.

I know the XP1700 comes with multipliers unlocked and the MSI dually mobo I'm planning on getting lets you adjust multipliers, but they only go up to about 12.5 X. In order to set a multiplier of 17X, I need to manually adjust the bridges.

At least, that's what my understanding was. Am I mistaken?

If it's possible, test them out individually in a motherboard that lets you set their speed in the BIOS. Then, once you know their limit, just blow the bridges to reflect that speed at 133FSB. You won't need conductive paint (as long as you don't mess up) because XP 1700+ come with all L3 bridges closed.

Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking that it might be better to go with the Barton's. Barton 2500 is only abou $85. 1700 is $47 at newegg, but you might get stuck with an A core.

What to do what to do ......

by the way, I still need the conductive pens because I still need to unlock the XP's for dual operation.

You can get conductive pens at Digi-key (http://www.digikey.com) or Mouser (http://www.mouser.com) .
Silver conductive paint at HighSpeed PC (http://www.highspeedpc.com/) and at auto parts stores as Loctite defroster repair paint (copper type).

theres also this socket adapter deally, or something where you plug the cpu into it then it goes into the socket and it gives you full multi ranges without any risk or modifying to the cpu and its completely undoable.. i think there is a article about it at tomshardware

ARe these pretty cheap? I'm looking for the cheapest solution.

Thanks a bunch.

Get the unlock kit at frozencpu, best bang for the buck and will do up to three or four cpus if my mem serves me correctly

If you want best bang for the buck get some whiteout (if you need to fill any lasercuts) and a conductive pen. I've done 6 CPUs so far and still have at least 90% of the pen's conductive paint left. Just go to your local electronics store, they should probably have conductive pens for under $15.

P.S. Unscrew the pen and use a needle to apply the paint. It's much easier (and it saves paint).

is the whiteout thick and stable enough under heat?
