I am a new to overclocking computers. I currently have 2500 barton with A7N8X deluxe motherboard.

question is:

Is it better to overclock the multiplier from 11 to 12.5 to or to overclock the bus speed from 166 to 200?

which one would give me less risk of damage?

If changing the multiplier is better will it give me less performance beacause i have DDR400 memory?

Thank you very much in advanced!

upping the FSB increases the speed of the 'whole' system

upping the multiplier increases only the CPU

so a higher fsb is usually better.
oh, and go for 200x11, everyones doing it.

Can I use these settings with the stock fan that comes with the CPU without burning it out or should I get a better fan?

thanks for the tips as well, helped out alot guys!!

like they said ,,, us the bus speed increase to overclock..

second Q.. depends on how high you want to overclock..
the stock fan is probably good for a few 100 mhz's....
but once that Barton get's over like a 2.2 ghz,, you may want to rethink stock fans,,, just keep check of the temp's and you'll be fine
