i have some prestone car coolant i want to use for mixing with my water pump. is this a good move?

i want to mix my water with a little prestone car coolant.

antifreeze

Yep you can use antifreeze(prestone-brand name) but u want to use very little, about 5% -- as antifreeze isnt as good at transfering heat as water is.

using antifreze is usally not the best idea. when it gets real cold it starts to get thick and gel's at extreme cold temps.
use methanol and it wont do this, and still stay fluid-like.

of course, you need to obey the saftey rules of methanol.

laters.

A 5% antifreeze is very common, and strongly recommended to prevent corrosional. The above isn't going to happen at such low concentrations. Methanol in reality will provide ever so slightly higher viscosity, but by too little of an amount to be remotely noticeable.

What can i use to clear up my hoses? they look as if theres smoke flowing throw instead of water.
