Raid question Different HD

I have two 60gb Maxtor HD's . The only problem is that one is a 7200rpm the other is a 5400rpm. Can I set these up in a mirrored RAID1 ? Will it work ? I am not worried about the performance just whether it will be stable for storage ?

They'll work fine for storage. All that matters is capacity for that. Performance-wise, your seek time will suffer quite a bit, since the 5400 drive's is a lot more, and RAID 0 always drops seek times a little bit anyway. Moreso having to coordinate between two drives of dissimilar performance. But it'll work alright.

Thanks I will only be using it to write backups overnight. Probably 20gb nightly.
