I have read reviews and articles about o/c athlon cpu's, particularly T-birds. I have a TB 800 on an ASUS A7V mobo, 512 meg PC133 RAM, 80 mm intake, and 80 mm, exhaust fan, plus PS fan. I have an ALPHA PAL6035 at the post office I am picking up tomorrow. Currently, my temps are bout 45 deg C idle and 55 deg C full load. Well maybe not full load, but immediatley following an intense game of Unreal Tournament. Anyway, I brought home some defroster repair from work. Gonna unlock the cpu tonight or tomorrow. I got a magnifying glass and needles too. I don't want to screw anything up. Now the part I am having trouble understanding is, what do I set the DIP switches to and the JEN jumper to after I unlock the CPU? Will I be able to set the clock multiplier from BIOS? Any other info about this would help. I know, I know, damn newbies. LOL. I am planning on installing 2 120mm fans also. One on the side of my midtower blowing in towards the bottom, and one for a blowhole at the top. I don't know if I will o/c much at present, but I would like to be able to whenever I want. Plus I just want the system as cool as possible if I don't o/c.

If you want to set the CPU speed in the bios, then put the dip switches to jumperfree mode, and the JEN jumper to jumper free mode as well. I didn't have much success using the bios to overclock the CPU on my A7V, so I just set the CPU speed with the jumpers and it worked great, for all jumper settings you can look in your manual they're all there, and if you have any more questions I"ll try to answer them.

I forgot to mention that when I was at the last LAN party I went to, I left my manual there, LOL! Can I print the manual out from the ASUS website?

The file is a PDF so with Acrobat reader you can view the file and save it to your hard drive for viewing and printing at any time.
