Hi there
I have been having a play with the ASUS A7M266 DDR Motherboard recently. I was amazed with how well it performed. So due to it's stability and performance, I decided to replace my IWILL KK266-r with the ASUS A7M266, which was modded by me and Madrad, to give multiplier support and voltages up to 2.35v.
Here are some of the latest benchmarks I have achieved with this rig, the memory has to be the most impressive. I had the voltage set at 2.1v and using the Thermalright SK6 Super Copper Cooler. I work at OcUK so I get to test some new production heat sinks, and the Thermalright SK6 cooler is amazing, with a 0.18c/w.

I am extremely please with the stability and performance of this system, as I will easily say that the ASUS A7M266 DDR Motherboard is not only the most stable I have used, but the best performing motherboard too.
I only have two niggles, and that is the temperature sensor is crap, and I managed to reach 1650Mhz in the IWILL KK266-r at 2.01v.
Check my signature for recentish 3D Mark results ran on this setup. For those that cannot see the results I have managed a result of 5060 in 3D Mark 2001 and 11260 in 3D Mark 2000 using a overclocked Creative Geforce 2 Ultra 64Mb.

Didn't Asus just recall the A7M266? That's the only reason I plan on buying the A7A266.

ASUS Have recalled the A7M266 yes, sillly them, if they had released the board with multiplier adjustment and RAID, they would have the best motherboard on the market. :)
As the A7A266 is a very poor performer in comparison, as I get to play with all the new mobo's out, as I work at OcUK, the A7A266 was a BIG dissapointment when I was testing it.
Best two motherboards are the IWILL KK266-r for SDRAM and the ASUS A7M266 for DDR RAM. I will be playing with the MSI KT266 Pro soon hopefully, to see how it's ram scores stack up against my ASUS A7M266 board. I have not seen a memory score higher than mine with another board apart from other ASUS A7M266's board at 2Ghz and over 180FSB.

I have a quick question. I have the Asus A7M266 and a 1.33 AMD overclocked to 1.4. I am using a Asus G-Force 256DDR video card. I have enabled all the settings for the card in the Bios but when I check Sisoft it says the card is not using side band and is not using fast write. It's also saying it's only using a bus speed of 70. When I run 3DMark 2001 I only get a score of around a 1000. Is the motherboard broke and not allowing the video card to change settings. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

So what motherboard is currently the top dog, or will be the top dog by month's end, for DDR? It would be nice to have RAID as well.

Hi m8
In my view the ASUS A7M266 DDR board is the best and even better when modified. I am also using RAID on the board too, as I added a PCI IWILL RAID Card. Got 2 x IBM 75GXP's on a RAID 0 setup.

When will you be able to get the A7M266 mobo since Asus recalled it? Do they already have a replacement out? What exactly was wrong with the A7M when they recalled it?

OcUK have quite a few of the ASUS A7M266 DDR Boards left, that is where I got mine from, and since then I have managed to push mine to give me amazing benchmark results like those above. I am very happy with my ASUS A7M266

If I could, I would buy one from them. But, I live in the states, I don't feel like having a motherboard shipped from the UK.
Erm since when has the A7M been recalled?!
There was some rumour about that going around but word from asus says its BS
Can anyone substantiate that recall claim?

Humphrey at PCNut told me that it has been recalled. The reason: lack of components, apparently. Ever wonder why you cannot find a major retailer such as PcNut or Newegg with an A7M266 in stock? Newegg doesn't have it listed anymore.
Hey Gibbon, this is bandit. I have an Axia 1 ghtz and an asus a7m266 ddr----what changes did you guys do? It would be great to reach 1633 mhz ,,please share your info with me...thanks

Maybe ASUS has recalled the A7M266 because AMD has stopped making 760 Northbridges?? :-D
This is pure speculation, of course...

That very well could be. I have to correct myself from before, I don't think they recalled the motherboards. They discontinued it. Too bad, the A7M266 is an awesome performer, why did AMD stop making the 760 chipset?

Asus did NOT recall the A7M266.
AMD has NOT stopped manufacturing the 760 chipset.
Asus simply decided to avoid making the A7M266 in quantity, because the AMD 760 chipset is more expensive than the Ali, therefore the A7A266 means more profit to Asus.
Asus is unlikely to lavish much ongoing support on the A7M266 in the form of BIOS upgrades, etc. because of the relatively low quantity of the boards that they shipped.

I recently mod my A7m(Clock Multi) but can't get the CPU (1333) to go over 1540 stable. I maxed out the voltage on RAM(Crucial 256 1600) and Vcore, 2.9 and 1.85, respectively. My RAM, I know , can handle over 150 MHZ FBS no problem. The cooling is also fine, MB and CPU run at 25 C and 42 C. I think I don't have enough voltage in the VCORE to boost the CPU. How did you mod your VCORE to make it run higher than 1.85? Is it pretty easy? Well, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey gibbo205, this is bandit. I also have a a7m266ddr and a 1 ghz axia. what were the changes you made to the motherboard to get 1633? your answer would sure be appreciated. thanks.
