a buddy two rooms over here bought a TV Wonder for regular cable watching after seeing the good results i have. the problem is the tuner refuses to work at all. He has an MSI GeForce FX 5600 256mb card.
he had to install all the drivers and software multiple times before windows stopped asking for it after every reboot. even now it STILL says that the driver he is using is unsupprted. my tuner says the same things allow mine works.
the problem now is that every time he clicks on the TV button the TV viewer starts to load and then freezes without fail and only a reset will fix it. at first i had the same problem but after getting my 9500pro i no longer had any problems with freezing.
any help would be appreciated
EDIT: Come to think of it we both ran 3dmark on our systems (while i had my radeon 7000 in my rig) and we were getting similar scores....i don't know if that helps at all

does he happen to use integrated sound instead of a sound card? the reason i ask is that over a half dozen pcs have shown me that no matter how much ram, no matter the vid card, and no matter how much cpu power, neither of my two tv wonders will work worth a damn with integrated audio

he has an audigy. also he uses an asus mobo (don't know the make; he's asleep cause it 1:30am here) and has an amd 1800+
Have you tried puttin the Wonder in the 4th PCI slot? That seems to be the advice of many over at tv-cards.com. This card is supposed to be notoriously difficult in XP. That's why they just came out with the TV Wonder pro. Supposed to be 12-bit (the original is 8-bit).

we got it figured out. it was an IRQ problem the whole time. he had 8 devices on number 9 so he switched it and its all good.

ATi upgrade, nVidia video card, it won't work.

I have my ATi TV Wonder working with integrated audio on my 800MHz P3.
Is he running DirectX 9.0b? 9.0a is fine, but 9.0b seems to be crashing all sorts of tuners. You might check out tv-cards.com for more info--they specialize in this kind of thing.
