Hi all. I have a 1,0 AMD|T-bird CPU running at idle at 52 C. I just built it so I run it right now with the case open I use heat sink compound I use on TV transistors. And I have a SKTA/370 Ventec HSF. Is my CPU supposed to run so hot? So what is the suggested high end they should run at? I have not taken it past idle because I’m not sure about the heat solution.

That does seem a bit high. Make sure the Heatsink is sitting properly on the CPU die, and the max temp that a lot of them runnin underload with a so so heatsink is about 40 to 50C.

I think I would start to worry at around 55C.

Idle temp over 40C is bad configured cooling software. Maybe you need wcpredit/wcprset.
Try running prime95 and observe temperatures. If prime's self test works OK and temp don't exceed 60-70C CPU should not fry, but lower temperature (50C and lower at full load) is better.
