I just got a 1.2 amd and have a7v mobo and when I go into bios and check the temp it seems to be at 59.5 to 61.5c seems really hot!! I was just wondering if it is way out of the safe zone. I had a p-3 800 that ran at 28c to 32c this other cpu is roasting need help it has the stock hf on it and I would like to get a watercooler/pelt for it. but dont know much about them need some advice or info on even a really nice hf for it at least. or anyother info I can get I went to toms site allready and it seems I would have to get a water cooler if I wanted to get some good ocing in because the amds run so much hotter but mine I think is waaaay to hot. HELP!!!!!

Sure is WAY too hot. Looks like some stock system temps I've seen, they're idling @45C (Windows).

I'd recommend Alpha PEP66T as a HSF, but there are better, altough pricier, alternatives for it.

Just check my sig, it shows quite well the extents of the PEP66T. My CPU is generating a bit over 70W of heat, so water cooling is needed. Same goes for you, if you want to squeeze all the speed out of your CPU.
I'd recommend reading a lot about watercooling & peltiers before going for them.

On my 1.33 my sys temp at 29 degrees my cpu idlem temp is 30 degrees at full load it gets up to 49 degrees with stock heatsind! Have a Chrome orb rt now duplicating those same temperatures only my 1.33 is at 1.486 my system is instable with anymore overclock if the temps are above 44 degrees errors, freezing, ect... purchasing water kooling by the end of the month good luck..
ok comparing your temps not the chips on my 900,1 .2 gig, 1.33 gig when running overclocked temps thats go above the mid 40s it was not uncommon to experience errors, freezes, ect... all three chips with the stock heatsink were lower than your temps at idle and underload think your hot would not consider overclocking untill you get the temps lower. Did you use a thermopaste in between your heatsink and cpu?

You can't compare the 1.33's to the 1.2's. I went to a CES show in Virgina when I was away from home for work, AMD and Intel both had booths. This was before the 1.33/1.3 ghz Athlons came out. The guy had told me the 1.33/1.3 ghz's chips were engineered to run cooler then the previous Athlons. I have 1.33 and 1.2 systems. My 1.2 runs 37 idle, 51 fiull load, the 1.33, on the same board, with the same HSF in the same open cases, runs 27 idle, 41 full load.

ya I did use paste not the good stuff but iam sure that i used enough its covering the die and it was nice and even. I need to get water cooling / pelt combo. Any sugestions on what pelt watercooler I should get?
