i haven't expirenced any freezing but before i put a heatsink on my south bridge the sound would get a lot of static and eventually go almost all the way out on me (other then static). how hot was the south bridge when it froze or rebooted? might be worth trying a heatsink on it.
i wish they came with heatsinks, that soundstorm is awsome but the south bridge gets a little overworked to not have even a passive heatsink (i use a copper vantec iceberq on mine)

One of my systems uses the Epox 8RDA+ mainboard (used to be may main rig), and I never had this problem. You may want to ask in the AMDMB forums.

i've heard of many issues when using the soundstorm with a large FSB overclock and no cooling on the south bridge.

That is me LOL
running 200+ fsb @ 2.3ghz
no extra cooling whatsoever, just a big SLK-7 w/ big tornado fan
So very much it is the heating problem on the south bridge then .. that is what I suspect too but wasnot sure... does applying AS-3 on the south bridge would help ? I never mod hardware b4

AS3 is only good for conducting from a chip to a heatsink/waterblock. If you put it on it will actualy act as an insulator. Also, I wouldnt recomend using AS3 on any motherboard parts, as it is conductive and can short things out. Buy some thermal epoxy, and epoxy a socket7 heatsink to it.
since when has as3 become an insulator? conductive on cpu to heatsink but not southbridge to heatsink? O.o

He's right. If you just slap some AS3 on WITHOUT some sort of heatsink, it will act as an insulator. AS3 alone is not great at moving heat into the air. It is good at transfering heat from a source (cpu, chipset, cpu) to the heatsink.
Argh so I need some kind of heatsink .. can someone point me to where I can buy one .... Linky plz

im running at 220fsb and i have no problems with my soundstorm what so ever only problem i had was my headphone ran out off battery power (cordless) :( lol
but if i was u id get some epoxy and a little heatsink :)
Does it have to be a particular heatsink or just any kind that fits into the board ?
